Implants

Implant

Anchored into the bone, dental implants provide a comfortable and convenient way to replace missing tooth or multiple teeth, which will last for almost a lifetime , if taken care well . Titanium roots are fitted directly into the jaw and fuse with the bone over time through a process called osseointegration. Porcelain or zirconia teeth are then fitted to this foundation, providing a strong, solid and long term replacement.

Benefits of dental implants

  • Are available to replace one or more missing teeth
  • Give you a firm, reassuring fit
  • Are as strong as natural teeth
  • Do not need removing to clean like dentures
  • Do not affect adjacent teeth like bridges

Importance of seeing a Dental Implant Specialist

Thinking of getting dental implants? An implant specialist is the right choice for you!

A specialist has the highest level of competency as far as implant surgery, implant restoration and soft tissue/ bone grafting are concerned. Having an implant specialist also helps lower the risk of having severe pain and complications related to implant and its prosthesis.

At AADIC, dental implants are our specialty along with the necessary periodontal treatment.

Our practice is aided with the latest implantology equipment providing safe and successful results since more than 20 years.

The entire process can take several months from start to finish. Much of the time is devoted to healing and waiting for new bone growth. The basic steps are:

  • Damaged tooth removal
  • Implant and bone assessment
  • Grafting procedure, if needed
  • Dental implant placement
  • Bone growth and healing
  • Healing abutment placement
  • Choosing your new artificial tooth

Depending upon your situation, certain steps can be combined.

DENTAL IMPLANT PLACEMENT/ FIRST STAGE SURGERY

Our Implantologist will start with a sterile, pain free surgery. The surgical procedure starts with a cut along your gum where we intend to place the implant. Holes are drilled into the bone to prepare the implant site. The sterile implant is placed deep into the bone and then the gum sutured upon.

For an esthetic zone and for obvious social reasons, our team make sure’s that the patient does not leave without a temporary replacement.

BONE GROWTH AND HEALING STAGE

After the first stage, it takes around 8-12 weeks for the process of bone to form around an implant referred to as osseointegration. If any grafting was done, this process would take longer than usual up to 6 months.

HEALING ABUTMENT PLACEMENT/ SECOND STAGE SURGERY

Happens after 2-3 months of the first stage surgery. Before this, patients are called at weekly follow ups.

To place the abutment, our implantologist will expose the deeply embedded implant under local anesthesia.

A healing cap is then attached to the implant. The gum tissue sutured but not over the abutment.

After 2 weeks, the gums heal to receive the artificial tooth of your choice.

CHOOSING YOUR ARTIFICIAL TOOTH

Impressions are made of the healing cap and the remaining teeth, promptly sent to our specialist lab who makes a realistic tooth of your choice.

When is bone grafting required?

Bone grafting is a separate procedure that our specialist will decide during the initial implant assessment.

In some cases when the jawbone isn’t thick enough to support an implant as in elderly or diabetics, a bone graft is required. Without this, the dental implant will most likely fail.

What to expect after the surgery?

  • Pain

Getting dental implants does typically cause slight pain and discomfort as like any other dental surgery.

  • Mild swelling for 2-3 days
  • Slight bleeding and redness in saliva

However, at AADIC we take a great deal in ensuring dental implant surgery is as comfortable allowing them to return back to work the very next day!

Dental Implants and Anxiety

This is another major concern after pain for most patients who opt for dental implants. Pain and anxiety management has a very integral and positive role in the healing process.

At AADIC, our implantology specialist inform patients about implant placement surgical procedures and anticipated pain levels. A thorough discussion is crucial to reduce the fear and stress.

The All on 4 Concept

The All-on-4 or 5 treatment concept is a cost-efficient, graft less solution that provides patients with a fixed full-arch prosthesis within few hours of surgery.

Features include:

  • Full-arch rehabilitation with only four to five implants
  • Two or three straight anterior implants and two implants angles up to 45º in the posterior
  • Immediate Function (fixed provisional bridge)
  • For patients meeting criteria for immediate loading of implants
  • Graft less procedure
  • Bone grafting is avoided by tilting the posterior implants, utilizing available bone
  • With certain strict criteria it has maximum success rate in geriatric patients.

Immediate Implants & Immediate prosthesis:

Dental implant surgery is a long lasting natural looking way to replace missing or damaged teeth. While it may require a series of dental office visits, at AADIC, our latest technological advancement allows you to have dental implants and an immediate loading temporary prosthesis ensuring you walk out of the clinic with a brand-new gleaming smile.

This procedure is unique because temporary non-functional teeth can be placed on the same day you receive the dental implant. These temporaries remain in place until the full maturation of implants and your custom permanent teeth are ready to be fixed. The stability of our dental implants would allow you to talk, smile and eat with confidence.
